This german photographer is known for his enormous prints of everyday objects and scenes that when blown up look deceiving and warrant a second look. he has gone to many places that other people are not allowed/would be scared to even visit let alone document, i.e. North Korea. his subjects are limited to pretty much nothing and are more based on his point of view and particular style. when i was in munich last winter i got to visit one of his exhibits at Haus der Kunst and immediately became obsessed. seeing these photos up close is even more of a mind fuck because you actually have to stand across the room to see what they really are.

lastly this one is titled 99 cents and actually holds the record for the most money paid for a single photograph at an auction where it went for GBP 1.7 million at sotheby's london. it's an image pieced together by a couple different images of a convenience store in order to give the actual view that he was going for.

get into it.
